Eligibility

- Accepts applications from individuals age 61 and 9 months and over AND have worked for at least 10 years. - Must be age 62 and over AND have worked for at least 10 years to be eligible for retirement benefits. - If eligible for retirement benefits, some members of the applicant's family can also receive benefits.

Description

Provides monthly cash payments for people age 62 and older. Workers may retire at age 62 and receive a reduced benefit. Full retirement age beginning with people born in 1938 or later is age 65. For individuals born after 1939 the full retirement age gradually increases by two months until age 67 for people born 1960 or later. Benefit amounts depend upon wages earned, age, and month of filing.
