Eligibility

175% of Federal Poverty Level for HEAP. Can apply once per service year June-May. 150% of Federal Poverty Level for PIPP Plus. 200% of Federal Poverty Level for HWAP.

Required documents

Completed signed application. Proof of income for household. If disabled, proof of disability. Proof of citizenship for the primary applicant. Copies of all heating and electric bills. Social Security numbers and date of birth for all household members.

Application process

Applications for HEAP, HWAP (Home Weatherization Assistance Program) and PIPP Plus are available on the website. Applications can also be obtained by telephone. Completed applications should be mailed to address on the application.

Description

Assists eligible low-income Ohioans meet the costs of home heating. The amount of annual HEAP benefits depends on federal funding levels, the number of people in the household and total income, primary fuel used to heat the home and disabilities in household. In most cases, the one-time benefit will be a credit applied to the energy bill by the utility company or fuel vendor. Funds are dispatched once per program year (June-May).
