Low-income households with an older household member (60 years or older), or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member's health.

Application process

To apply for the Summer Crisis Program, consumers need to contact their local community action agency. The community action agency determines the benefits that can be provided. The program is available from July 1 until September 30.

Summer Crisis Program provides a one-time benefit to eligible Ohioans with cooling assistance during the summer months. The program typically runs from July - August. This year, due to COVID-19, the program has been extended through September. The focus of the Summer Crisis Program is to provide bill payment assistance for persons 60 years of age and older or those with a certified medical condition.
