Eligibility

- Serves residents of Medina County age 19 to 64 who have experienced a qualifying medical crisis within the past 0-9 months. - Clients must be employed or have an income. - Has not received assistance from Medina Cares in the last 12 months. - Will only accept applications from those experiencing a new medical crisis. - NOTE: Will not assist those with a chronic illness, such as diabetes or multiple sclerosis.

Application process

- Call the office and leave a message with name, return phone number, need, and details of medical crisis, including when it occurred or complete the application on the website. - Agency will contact the client for additional information and verify need. Agency will generally reach out within one (1) business day. - All cases must be reviewed and approved for eligibility by a majority vote of agency's board which takes place twice a month (generally around the 15th and 30th of each month). - Once eligibility is determined and approved, agency will contact applicant and make payment to the appropriate third party, on applicant's behalf and not directly to the applicant.

Provides limited financial assistance to those going through a medical crisis. Offers funds for expenses such as rent, car repairs, utilities, grocery cards, or prescriptions. Payment is made directly to the debtor or service provider (with the exception of grocery cards). There is a maximum amount of assistance available which may not cover entire bill. May provide other community resources if agency is unable to help.
