Eligibility

The building must be a residential, commercial or industrial structure which uses electricity from Darke Rural Electric Cooperative. Qualified Equipment and Installation: An electric water heater for original installation (in new construction) or that replaces an existing water heater; The water heater must be a new electric storage tank unit that is greater than 90% efficient (greater than 0.90 EF). Heat pump water heaters are not eligible; A load management switch must be installed on the water heater which should remain installed for a minimum of five (5) years. The installation of the water heater must be approved by Darke Rural Electric Cooperative. Note: Heat pump water heaters and on-demand water heaters are not eligible for this program. A maximum of two rebates may be paid per residential consumer-member home.

Description

Provides a rebate of up to $250 toward the installation of a new electric water heater in a home, office or other building which uses electricity from Darke Rural Electric Cooperative. A $250 rebate will be paid to the member on the basis of one rebate for each qualified unit installed that has a load management switch installed for Buckeye direct load management efforts. If there is an existing switch, a rebate of $200 will be paid to the member for the installation of a new water heater.
