Eligibility

Adults 18 and older who cannot afford to pay for legal representation as determined by the court. Client must have been charged with a crime within Geauga County.

Required documents

Will need to complete a financial disclosure form if Public Defender is not court-appointed must bring proof of income. If Public Defender is court-appointed, records and other paperwork are sent at time case is assigned.

Provides legal representation (licensed attorney) for indigent individuals charged with violations of the criminal code, felony offenses, and some misdemeanors.
