Transportation: Independence residents who are 60 and older or 18 and older and disabled. Must not have someone living in the home who can drive. Non-emergency rescue squad transport: residents of Independence.

Required documents

Proof of age may need doctor's statement of disability.

Transportation has varied and scheduled hours mostly during the day. Non-emergency rescue squad transport: as arranged.

Application process

Phone Community Services for information or to schedule an appointment M-F: 7:30am-10:00pm for transportation. Must schedule an appointment in advance, as early as possible. For non-emergency rescue squad transport phone Fire Dept. M-F: 8:00am-4:30pm at least 24 hours in advance.

Nominal fee for some transportation services.
