Eligibility

Ages 21 and over. No residency restrictions. Must have no felony convictions and be able to pass a background check.

Required documents

Photocopy of Ohio State Driver’s License or Ohio State Identification Card, and if applicable, a copy of citizenship, passport, or employment authorization documents

Hours

Offered annually, usually for 10 weeks on a week night. Sessions are generally about 3-4 hours.

Download application from web site, call, or walk in M-F: 8:00am-4:30pm to pick up application or to drop off application with copies of documents. May also mail in application with documents. May also call and leave a message that will be returned.

Description

Provides classes to educate and build community support for local policing efforts. Covered issues vary but have included Laws of Arrest, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Canine Patrol, The Court System, Use of Force, S.W.A.T, Juvenile Court, Evidence Collection, Mock Crime Scene, Bike Patrol, Traffic Stops, Officer Safety, and Communications.
