Eligibility

*Income Based: 50 percent or less of the median income for the area *Families of two or more or a single person household that is elderly or disabled *Families that have a member or members who have engaged in violent criminal activity or drug related criminal activity are, in most cases, not eligible. *Families with members that are required to register as a lifetime sexual offender are not eligible. *Specialized assistance available for veterans, families at risk of separation, and youth 18-21 who left foster care at 16 or older.

Application process

Clients must complete an online application to determine eligibility and be placed on the wait list. *Computers are available for use in their lobby during listed hours.

Fees

Tenants share of rent is income based and generally 30% of their monthly adjusted gross income for rent and utilities.

Description

Provides assistance in the form of vouchers that enable income-eligible families to find and lease approved privately owned housing where the landlord has agreed to enter into a contract with the housing authority and/or finance agency. Tenant-based assistance provides rental subsidies that move with a household into any qualifying housing within a certain area.
