Description
This is a community oversite Board designed to address specifically opiate and other addiction trends in Richland County. We discuss, prevention, education, intervention, interdiction, treatment and aftercare for those who are struggling with an addiction or have a loved one who is struggling with addiction. We gear all efforts to the reduction in overdoses and death rates due to overdoses. The program has supported prevention and community education efforts as well as developed an implemented a Overdose Response Team (ORT). The team responds to overdose within 72 hours of the overdose occurring. A team consisting of a law enforcement officer, a treatment provider and a community advocate will attempt to make contact with the individual who overdosed at the last know address. The purpose is to encourage the individual to enter treatment and if the individual is willing a team member will assist with this process.
