Eligibility

Serves homeless male Veterans residing in Portage County that meet the following criteria: - At least age 18. - Must be a Veteran (does not have to have an honorable discharge). - Able to live in an environment with people from a variety of backgrounds, sexual orientations, race, color, cultures, disabilities and ages. - Must be at or below 35% of area median income (Updated April 1st, 2025: $24,605). - Must be sober and willing to abstain from all substances. - Must be willing to participate in Freedom House's therapeutic program. - No active warrants out for an arrest. - Not actively psychotic, suicidal or homicidal.

Required documents

Must have DD214 discharge papers. Shelter will help Veterans find them if they do not have them.

Hours

- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. - Stay can be up to two (2) years.

Description

Provides a transitional shelter for Veterans. Assists residents to find employment, counseling, permanent housing and so forth. Offers a vegetable garden on site for residents.

Services include hot meals, emergency groceries, shelters for the homeless, emergency housing assistance, services for children, support for victims of domestic violence, veteran’s assistance, community and senior outreach, and full clinical services including counseling, case management, psychiatry and addiction services.
