Eligibility

Virtual classroom is open for adults 18 and over from anywhere. In person classes are available to adults 18 and older in Cuyahoga County. Must know the alphabet. Must know basic phonics (vowel sounds).

Required documents

New students need to know their Social Security number. If client has taken TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education), bring in scores and date taken.

Hours

Orientation at this site weekly on W: 1:00pm-4:00pm and on the second Wednesday of the month from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Tutoring is offered M-Th: 9:00am-11:00am, 1:00pm-3:00pm, and 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Application process

Orientation is required prior to attending classes. Orientation is walk in at the site where applicant wants to also schedule classes following orientation. Information also available by phone M-F: 9:00am-5:00pm

Description

Offers volunteer tutors to work with persons who want to improve their reading, writing, math, social studies and science skills and/or work toward obtaining a High School Equivalency diploma. Tutors work one-on-one with students. Also provides access to computers, assistance transitioning to higher education and job readiness training for enrolled participants. Reading,math and language skills will be assessed.
