Eligibility

- Caregiver must live in Portage County and be employed or enrolled in an approved educational activity. - For initial application, income must be 200% or less of current Federal Poverty Limit (FPL). - Reapplication is required after 12 months of assistance - current recipients may have income up to 300% FPL when reapplying.

- Completed application. - Proof of income for the last three (3) months. - Current work, school, or occupational training schedule.

Description

Helps pay for child care while parents or guardians work or go to school. Provides guidance to help find child care that works best for each family, whether it is traditional care in a licensed facility, care in a licensed home setting or preschool program. - Individuals must choose a licensed child care center, school-age program, head start, or a home provider (relative or non-relative) or in-home aide that is certified by the Portage County DJFS. - Child care services are also available for children who require special-needs care or who are in need of protective child care services. - Recipients who qualify will only be responsible to pay a monthly fee (calculated based on their income) to the child care service of their choice.
