Eligibility

Assistance is available one time and only for one member of the household. Eligible individuals must work at specific institutions, plan to live in the service area, and occupy the planned rental unit as a primary residence. Rental units must be pre-approved by the agency in order to receive reimbursement and must be located in Buckeye-Shaker, Central-Midtown, St. Clair-Superior, East Cleveland, Glenville, Hough, Fairfax, Little Italy, and University Circle. Employee eligibility requirements vary depending on the institution they work for.

Required documents

Signed lease agreement with pre-approved landlord written commitment letter from agency dated before executing lease agreement with pre-approved landlord. proof of an executed rental contract and payment of first month’s rent and security deposit from pre-approved landlord. Proof of employment with eligible institution proof of first month's rent and security deposit.

Application process

Currently there is a waiting list for this benefit for employees of Case Western Reserve University. Contact agency or human resources department at employer to determine eligibility. If eligible, phone for an application and appointment. Applicant must obtain a signed letter from organization before renting from list of pre-approved units. Get list of approved units from employers or this agency. Must be able to provide first month's rent and security deposit. Reimbursement will NOT be made for renters that have occupied their units prior to the date on the letter of written approval. Employee will NOT receive assistance if they have not obtained a written commitment before executing a lease agreement.
