Eligibility

Open to individuals who are:

  • a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified non-citizen
  • responsible for funeral expenses incurred on or after January 20, 2020 for a death that occurred in the U.S. and was attributed to COVID-19

Application process

Applications must be completed with a FEMA representative by phone. Online applications are not accepted. Once FEMA receives all required documentation, it takes approximately 45 days for an eligibility decision to be made.
