Throughout the year the Children’s Services Division of the Knox County Department of Human Services sponsors parenting sessions for children of all ages. There is also a teen specific group to assist teens in the handling of certain issues including; dealing with authority, self-esteem, and setting consequences for actions taken, and a variety of other problems and circumstances that teens face on a daily basis.

Provides curriculum and training about youth issues including alcohol, tobacco, violence, destructive peer pressure, and substance abuse for cities, police departments, and school systems. Law enforcement agencies implement the program in their schools. Offers training programs and certification for officers. Provides limited information about established local programs.

Group mentoring at local schools. Individual mentoring for youth with mild to moderate behavioral issues. Wraparound and/or Intensive Service Coordination for youth with moderate to severe behavioral issues with risk of out of home placement.

The program is designed to supply activities that are alternatives to drug and alcohol use and experimentation. Provides crime prevention and safety programs to Centerville residents in the areas of: bunco/fraud protection, property identification, child abuse prevention, juvenile delinquency prevention, commercial and residential security evaluations, child sexual assault prevention, shoplifting prevention, halloween safety, school safety, bicycle safety, vacation security checks, neighborhood watch programs, traffic safety, and child passenger safety.

Provides a wide variety of crime prevention and safety education services for the City of Lyndhurst. Covers topics such as fraud prevention, child abuse prevention, child passenger safety, child sexual assault prevention, violence and general crime prevention, elder abuse prevention, gangs, hate crimes, juvenile delinquency, pedestrian and personal safety, school safety, spousal abuse prevention, substance abuse, and sexual harassment prevention. Offers vacation security checks, neighborhood watch programs, and security evaluations for businesses.

Networking program among city and county students in grades 5-12. Goal of program is to improve the quality of life for youth in Richland county.

Offers educational and prevention programs that provide alternatives to drugs and violence. Includes a TV/Radio program that focuses on current issues of interest to teens. Staff are also available to do training on prevention issues for health professionals, commercial groups, schools, and community-based organizations.

Offers crime prevention and safety programs to City of Dayton residents only. Programs include: security assessment/assistance for residences and businesses, personal safety information, vacation security checks, neighborhood watch, extra eyes program, police athletic league.

Provides a designated officer who works with children/youth who reside in the City of South Euclid at the schools and various community locations.

Provides a program to divert youth who have committed a first offense from further patterns of activity that would lead towards increased involvement with the justice system. A social worker/case manager works with the family to determine a case plan with appropriate options. Participating youth must complete the requirements of the case plan and not re-offend within a specified time to avoid having the case sent to Juvenile Court for disposition.

Prevents and reduces neighborhood youth crime and delinquent behavior while improving both mental and physical well being. Provides diverse, positive activities and opportunities for youth ages five to twelve. Provides transportation to five different schools, to and from their school. Upon arrival the children are given a hot nutritious meal and then they can attend: arts and crafts, swimming two times a week, playground, gym, game room, computer lab, homework study center and tutorial help. Open all school vacations days during the school year and on snow days from 9 am to 6 pm.

Offers safety programs to residents of German Township in the areas of residential security evaluations, school safety, bicycle safety, and vacation security.

Provides a program for at risk youth ages 6 to 17 years old who are struggling with authority and/or exhibit worrisome academic behaviors.

Program provides dinner, information on health, crime prevention, and youth employment services to nurture youth toward academic and life success.

Provides programs that build relationships with children through constructive activities. Topics may include improving children's overall physical, social and academic performance, learning non-violent conflict management techniques, decreasing substance and alcohol abuse, community involvement and awareness, social and life skills, character building, and goal-setting.

Provides a variety of safety education and crime prevention services for the City of Maple Heights. Also provides a Child Seat Inspection Team, and a Gun Lock give-away Program (1 lock free to any adult resident).

Provides a variety of crime prevention and safety education services for the City of Garfield Heights. Does not have many specific programs, but does offer individual workshops/seminars on a wide variety of specific topics as requested.
