Ohio Crime Victims Compensation Program | Ohio Attorney General'S Office

Administers the Ohio Crime Victims Compensation Program. Assists innocent victims of violent crime (resulting in injury) in recovering their economic losses suffered as a result of the crime. Maximum award of benefits to each victim per incident is $50,000. Assists only when recipient's funds are exhausted and there is no other source of compensation (such as insurance or settlement payments). Expenses eligible for compensation include reasonable medical expenses, mental health counseling (for specific types of crimes), ambulance services, funeral expenses, loss of wages, eyeglasses, dental work, replacement services (services victim can no longer perform), crime scene clean-up, evidence replacement, attorney fees relating to the application process, and other necessary services.

Mental Health / Trauma Recovery Services - Victims Of Violent Crime | Brenda Glass Multipurpose Trauma Center

Provides trauma recovery mental health services (counseling, therapy, and peer support) to victims of violence. Case management is provided to link the client to other community services as appropriate to their situation and needs. The case manager may also provide transportation to and from medical, court and legal appointments associated with recovery from the violent event. In some cases, temporary housing may be provided to clients who are receiving mental health services from this agency.

Provides a court advocate to assist victims of the crime of domestic violence navigating the court and legal system. Services may include assisting with protection order or victim compensation claims applications as well as answering questions about legal processes.

Victim/Witness Division | Montgomery County Prosecutors Office

The Victim/Witness Division provides crisis intervention and supportive services to victims and witnesses of violent crime. Advocates provide specialized services to victims of sexual violence, domestic violence and survivors of homicide victims. Advocates respond to area emergency departments to provide crisis intervention and support to victims of sexual violence regardless of whether an offender is identified and/or prosecuted. Advocates work with families who have lost a loved one to a homicide and offer a monthly support group. Additionally, advocates are located at CARE House to provide services to child victims of physical and sexual abuse. Advocates are available to provide court advocacy and an explanation of the criminal justice process. Eligible victims are notified of and provided information and assistance concerning the Victim Compensation Program. Advocates also provide assistance to victims on post-conviction issues including parole hearings.
