LASCO provides advice and representation for tenants who live in private or subsidized housing. Our goal is to preserve and improve the quality of the tenant’s home. Legal services are provided in the following areas: - Evictions - Fair housing - Security deposits - Issues with the condition of rental properties - Section 8 Voucher terminations - Mortgage foreclosures - Tax foreclosures.

Provides assistance to individuals with hoarding issues who have concerns of housing discrimination. Conducts investigations of the practices and policies of housing providers and other housing related entities. Provides information on the Ohio Tenant-Landlord laws.

Investigates civil rights, health information privacy, and patient safety confidentiality complaints to find out if there is discrimination or a violation of law and takes action to correct problems.

Provides legal advocacy to ensure the humane care, treatment, habilitation and protection of persons with developmental disabilities. Serves people in Ohio communities and developmental centers, and students with developmental disabilities receiving special education in private or public schools or other settings.

Complaints of housing discrimination based on a person's race, color, religion, national origin, familial status, handicap, military status or sex are received from clients. Resolving these complaints may consist of investigating, testing, conciliating, or possibly referring to a higher legal resource for resolution.

Accepts and, where possible, attempts to resolve complaints regarding discrimination by a health care provider, human services agency, or program or activity conducted by Health and Human Services (HHS).

Accepts complaints from individuals that have been trying to buy or rent a home or apartment and believe their rights have been violated.

Does not provide housing search assistance or have housing available to rent.

Provides legal assistance in the following housing areas: wrongful evictions and landlord/tenant disputes, foreclosures, public housing and Section 8 disputes, housing discrimination, utility shut-offs, and other housing-related issues.

Provides counseling on fair housing rights, investigates fair housing complaints and provides information on landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities. Also provides workshops on fair housing and landlord/tenant issues.

Takes complaints and investigates suspected cases of discrimination in employment due to race, color, age, sex (including sexual harassment), religion, national origin, genetic information, pregnancy, disability, retaliation, sexual orientation and gender identity, or equal pay. Does not offer legal advice but will help client understand legal issues surrounding the complaint. Offers clients mediation as an alternative to an investigation.

Provides legal assistance to parents who have children with disabilities and who are concerned about a lack of appropriate education or about (threats of) suspension and/or expulsion from elementary, middle, or high school.
