Homework Center | Cuyahoga County Public Library

Provides an opportunity for youth to complete their homework with help from volunteers. Will offer assistance with reading, math, science, social studies,as well as special school assignments. Focuses on literacy issues. Service is homework help. Also offers educational activities and games and personal computer and Internet access. Computers are available in the center for use by the students. Note: many of the branches that do not provide a "Homework Center" will have a "Homework Mentor" that can provide assistance with homework, but do not provide one-on-one assistance or tutoring.

Tuition Assistance For Foster Youth | Central Ohio Technical College

Prevention, Retention And Contingency (PRC) - Employment/Education | Cuyahoga County Job And Family Services

Provides aid to families in the form of a voucher to buy items or pay for services that are emergencies and non-recurring (a situation not extending beyond 4 months) and which cannot be addressed using existing community resources. Assistance is provided only for items that are essential for the applicant's employment, job training, or education such as: car repairs (does not cover normal "wear and tear" items such as oil change, tires, brake pads); work clothing and uniforms, washer or dryer (only if needed for work purposes), and education related equipment (such as tools). Maximum assistance limits (once per calendar year): $500 for education-related equipment, $225 for work or education uniforms, $750 for car repairs (additional restrictions also apply). In addition to these specific limits, applicant cannot exceed yearly limit of $1,500 in aid from the overall PRC program ($750 if non-custodial guardian). Does not help with short term transportation needs such as gas cards or bus fare. Does not help with GED testing fees.

Blind And Low Vision Services | Opportunities For Ohioans With Disabilities

Provides services for clients to find gainful employment or training. Specific services include: counseling and planning, mobility training, personal and work adjustment training, vocational training (including small business development), training supplies and books, artificial limbs, braces, eyeglasses, hearing aids, psychotherapy, student financial aid to attend post-secondary classes, physical therapy, wheelchairs (if needed for work) occupational supplies, placement, and follow-up on the job. Clients accepted in the program develop a plan for employment with a staff counselor that they meet with periodically during a specified time for follow-up. Services are time-limited. Services include transitional assistance from school to work or college for students who are graduating from high school.
