Maternal And Child Health Program | Licking County Health Department

The goals of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Division are to eliminate health disparities, improve birth outcomes, and improve the health status of Licking County’s women, infants, children, youth and families. MCH Priorities: - Decreasing childhood obesity, reducing food insecurity, and supporting breastfeeding; - Decreasing infant mortality by ensuring infants have a safe sleep environment and car safety seats; - Increasing parenting skills, promoting early childhood development and school readiness; - Providing referrals to safety net services assure that the health needs of women and children are met; - Addressing social determinants of health; - Free transportation to medical appointments - LCHD has partnered with Uber to help women get a free ride to their next medical appointment. Ride recipients must be 18 and 44 years old and have the Uber app downloaded on their phone. To schedule a ride, call 740-349-6535 and ask for the Uber Health Program.

Offers the Parent Cafe program. Provides free parenting classes and discussion groups virtually and in various community locations. Includes free childcare, grocery gift cards, and meals for families who attend.

Provides an emotional and social development program for the purpose of stemming violent or unruly behavior in elementary aged school children. Provides classroom curriculum focusing on social skills, non-violent problem solving, and improving classroom behavior. Offers interpersonal skills training to parents on issues such as anger management, communication, depression, and non-violent discipline techniques. Also offers training to parents on how to boost their child's academic habits and performance. Parent training is conducted in group settings. Children participate in activities to promote appropriate social and emotional skills.

Family Drop-In Center - Counseling, Parenting, Anger Management | Beech Brook

Provides a variety of services to assist the community in increasing individual and family wellness, through general counseling, participating in anger management, domestic violence prevention, child abuse prevention, and parent education classes, and finding resources and referrals to needed social and community services. Counseling is by a Licensed Social Worker (LISW). Classes for teen parents and fathers may also be available. Parent Cafes held several times a year. Certificates of completion may be available.

Parenting Wisely | Washington County Family And Children First Council

Parenting Wisely (PW) is a parenting skills education system designed to facilitate the learning of necessary skills for the healthy well-balanced raising of children from ages 3-18. Parents have access to private computers and watch scenes of common daily problems; choose a solution; watch and see how effective the solution was. Two programs are offered: Young Children and Adolescents. Parents have access to the computer-based program and work at their own pace. Takes approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours to complete.
