Renovates and builds houses in partnership with low income, first-time home buyers. These homes are then sold at no profit to partner families with a no interest loan. Home prices are kept low primarily by using volunteer labor. Funding is obtained through donations and grants. Government money is only used for land acquisition, infrastructure (sidewalk, utilities, streets, etc.) and administrative expenses. Eligibility: None to volunteer. Partner families need to currently be living in sub-standard housing, have a steady source of income, meet income guidelines and be willing to partner by providing sweat equity hours. A credit report will need to be submitted with the application.

Construction/Home Maintenance Volunteer Opportunities | Leapin' Outreach Center

Leapin' Outreach Center is looking for help to complete the building of our homeless shelter on the second floor of our building at 150 Court St. We have set up open workdays on the third Saturday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Volunteers not required to stay all eight hours. CURRENT PROJECT LIST: - Patch and/or repair to existing walls & ceiling, taping and mudding drywall - Frame elevated bathroom floor and building ramps - Hang 5/8 inch drywall on new steel framed walls and in future office area - Drywall finishing and painting to be done as we go forward No experience necessary, but helpful. There are also opportunities to help out sorting donations and working in the clothing area if you're not a construction person.
