Southwest allows participating nonprofit hospitals and medical transportation nonprofit organizations the freedom to determine how to distribute the tickets to patients and/or caregivers. Screening And Survivor Support For Breast Cancer | Licking County Health Department

If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and reside in Licking County, enrollment in SASS offers you the following: - Educational Support: including information and referrals on mammography, self exams and educational programs for young women on prevention and the benefits of early diagnosis. The program also sponsors and promotes fundraising in Licking County focused on breast cancer awareness and prevention. - Personal support: including details on services such as cosmetic care, prosthesis, lymphedema care and transportation issues. Information on local breast cancer resources and classes are also made available through our quarterly SASS newsletters. - Social Support: including opportunities to connect with other women diagnosed with breast cancer and access to events such as dinners, informative workshops and local support groups. Also available are mentor relationships as well as the SASS email group and Facebook page for networking and sharing with breast cancer survivors throughout the county.

Provides speakers on cancer prevention and early detection to organizations. Builds relationships with community-based organizations and health care providers, schools, parks and communities to plan, organize and develop effective cancer prevention and early detection programs and activities. It is recommended Cervical Cancer testing (screening) should begin at age 25; Breast Screenings/Mammogram should start every year for Women between age 40-44; and regular mammograms should happen annually for Women between age 45-54. Women 55 and older can switch to a mammogram every other year.
