Blind And Low Vision Services | Opportunities For Ohioans With Disabilities

Provides services for clients to find gainful employment or training. Specific services include: counseling and planning, mobility training, personal and work adjustment training, vocational training (including small business development), training supplies and books, artificial limbs, braces, eyeglasses, hearing aids, psychotherapy, student financial aid to attend post-secondary classes, physical therapy, wheelchairs (if needed for work) occupational supplies, placement, and follow-up on the job. Clients accepted in the program develop a plan for employment with a staff counselor that they meet with periodically during a specified time for follow-up. Services are time-limited. Services include transitional assistance from school to work or college for students who are graduating from high school.

The Play Hard. Don't Blink. program (PHDB) provides qualifying children a free pair of prescription sports goggles. Designed for use by players of ALL sports – including but not limited to: racket sports, girls lacrosse, field hockey, basketball, baseball, and soccer. This program is unique to Ohio and is made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Health's Save Our Sight Program (SOS).

Vocational Evaluation | Goodwill Industries Of South Central Ohio

Provides assessment to identify the individual's academic and vocational capabilities. Participants complete a variety of pencil and paper, computerized or simulated activities to determine their work kills, transferable skills, aptitudes, academic abilities and interests.
