Landlord/Tenant Legal Assistance | Legal Aid Society Of Cleveland - Lorain County Office
Evaluates cases where tenant is being evicted and the tenant HAS A WRITTEN lease. The case must involve:
- Tenant is living in a foreclosed property;
or
- Lease with an option to purchase, lease with an automatic renewal, or lease with at least four (4) months remaining on term; land installment contract.
Will also evaluate eviction cases where there is NO WRITTEN LEASE but:
- Tenant is living in a foreclosed property; or
- Tenant alleges retaliation or discrimination.
Will evaluate ALL cases involving:
- Utility shut-offs and lock-outs; or
- Child is found to have lead levels above five (5) micrograms per deciliter and Department of Health or landlord has not followed up;
or
- Manufactured/mobile homes.
In all housing cases, applicant must apply for service and deliver papers to Legal Aid at least eight (8) days prior to hearing.
