The goals of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Division are to eliminate health disparities, improve birth outcomes, and improve the health status of Licking County’s women, infants, children, youth and families. MCH Priorities: - Decreasing childhood obesity, reducing food insecurity, and supporting breastfeeding; - Decreasing infant mortality by ensuring infants have a safe sleep environment and car safety seats; - Increasing parenting skills, promoting early childhood development and school readiness; - Providing referrals to safety net services assure that the health needs of women and children are met; - Addressing social determinants of health; - Free transportation to medical appointments - LCHD has partnered with Uber to help women get a free ride to their next medical appointment. Ride recipients must be 18 and 44 years old and have the Uber app downloaded on their phone. To schedule a ride, call 740-349-6535 and ask for the Uber Health Program.

Ohio Buckles Buckeyes (OBB) Car Seat Program, Wyandot County Public Health provides child safety seats and booster seats to eligible low-income families for a minimal fee.

Provides car seats through Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program. Also provides education on car seats, with training on proper installation, use of seats, and properly securing seats.

Provides prenatal and postnatal services utilizing an Earn While You Learn pregnancy and parenting education program. Baby items including cribs, car seats, diapers, clothing, etc are earned as lessons are completed. Group classes on safe sleep, preventing child sexual abuse, and shaken baby syndrome are also offered. Staff are certified as child passenger safety technicians and can check for proper installation of car seats.

Distributes discounted child passenger safety seats to income eligible families. Conducts inspections which offer guidance regarding child passenger safety seats and the law, choosing a car seat that is appropriate for a particular child's height and weight, correct car seat installation and restraining a child in a car seat. Also offers The Car Seat Basics online class to any interested individual.

Offers free pregnancy testing and ultrasounds. Earn While You Learn class "Understanding Pregnancy." Free new baby merchandise, for example onesies, bottles, sleepers, handmade blankets, diapers & wipes. Complete all 5 sessions receive a car seat or stroller.

Low income car seat program available to residents in all 88 counties of Ohio provides child safety seats and booster seats to eligible, low income families. Through the coordinated efforts of local and regional CPS coordinators, the OBB Program distributes child safety seats and booster seats and provides CPS education. The OBB Program has distributed more than 17,000 child safety seats and booster seats to low income families in Ohio over the past five years.

Countywide resource to provide car seat instruction (infant, convertible, and booster) to those in need. Nationally Certified Carseat Technicians will provide hands-on education to ANY community member and check that your car seat is installed correctly. Also offers FREE car seats to those within specific income guidelines and/or who are WIC and/or SNAP eligible.

Certified Car Seat Technician assists with car seat installation and inspection. Program also assists with providing car seats and booster seats to low-income families through partnership with Ohio Buckles Buckeyes.

Local distribution site for the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes Child Safety Seat Program employs one Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician to oversee the program, assist with child safety seat questions and to check your child’s safety seat installation. Checking of seats is by appointment only. Safety seats are intended primarily for distribution to eligible low-income families whose child has outgrown their infant-only car seat.

Provides comprehensive home visiting services in Defiance, Fulton, Henry, and Williams Counties. This service is for pregnant women and families with children up to age 3 who are income eligible.

Provides supplemental food vouchers, nutrition education, counseling, support and referral services to eligible women, children, fathers, and kinship caregivers. Nursing mothers are provided with information and education on breastfeeding. Also offers speakers who discuss the program and the value of good nutrition and breastfeeding. During the summer, also provides a supplemental voucher to each client for fruits and vegetables from selected local growers (Farmers' Market Nutrition Program) - these are available while supplies last. Provides child car seat inspections by certified seat technicians from the health department by appointment. Can also help provide you with a no cost seat if: Your child meets weight and height requirements for available seats You attend, participate in, and complete a car seat class. Your child is WIC or Medicaid eligible.
