Workforce Solutions | Cuyahoga Community College

Provides training to learn new job skills and to increase current job skill levels in a wide variety of professional employment areas. Provides background for testing for certification and professional licensure as well as continuing education credits where appropriate. Service is also available to employers wishing to increase skills of their employees as a whole. Areas covered include: bank teller training, truck driver training, training and education for those in the construction trades, small business development, customer service, careers working with aging individuals, health care careers (State Tested Nursing Assistant-STNA- training), Spanish for health care professionals, social work certification, human resources, meeting/event planning, food service/hospitality, classes to prepare for standardized tests such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and other college entrance exams, police/fire/emergency training, and computer classes (including certification in advanced information technology).

Provides a vocational training and job placement service for unemployed or under-employed individuals. Includes career change counseling and assistance for displaced workers and displaced homemakers. Those interested in job training will first complete career testing and assessment before being placed in an appropriate training program. Offers all participants workshops, computer and telephone access, resume development, and other job search assistance. Maintains a database for job seekers to post their resumes for potential employers to view.

Culinary/Food Service Training | Edwins Leadership & Restaurant Institute

Provides comprehensive training for work in a gourmet food establishment including restaurant work, a butcher shop and bakery. Topics may include classes on how to prepare a variety of foods, wines, restaurant management, restaurant law, ethics, responsibilities when serving alcoholic beverages, history of the hospitality industry and others. Students are trained to provide a Parisian-style menu with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. Eligible students may reside on organization's dormitory/test kitchen campus. Housing may also be available for those who have completed the program. Service includes a monthly stipend during training. Successful completion of the program may result in certifications that are accepted in the food service industry.
