These waivers can be used to pay for a wide range of services, including housing, in-home services (such as help with meal preparation and household chores) and other services to maintain the independence of the client (such as transportation, help with budgeting, and life skills training as needed). There are three types of waivers depending on the level of the client's needs. The Individual Options (IO) Waiver is for people who may need a lot of help in their home and who may need many different kinds of services. The Level One Waiver is for people who do not need a lot of paid staff to provide services. Usually, people using a Level One Waiver only need help with a few things, or they have people who can help them with some of the things they need, like cooking meals, taking showers, or driving places. The Self-Empowered Life Funding (SELF) Waiver is for people who want to be in charge of some of their services. Those with a SELF Waiver can be in charge of hiring and training the people that provide services and manage their own budget for services. The board can help the individual select which waiver is right for them and can help the client locate service providers who can accept the waiver.

Provides information and makes referrals to local support agencies to families of developmentally disabled persons and professionals who serve them. The Arc also serves as an advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Staff understand the laws and regulations that protect the rights of families of school-aged children and the adult population. Advocates meet with clients, accompany families to important meetings, and advocate on their behalf.

Links people and families of people with developmental disabilities with service providers and supplies descriptive information about the agencies or organizations which offer supports that may assist people with developmental disabilities. Can provide information on significant structural changes to services to the developmentally disabled in Ohio.

Investigates cases of alleged abuse (physical, sexual, verbal, and so forth) and neglect, any health or safety issue, or misappropriation situations for adults with developmental disabilities.

Offers snow plowing of driveways for older adults and disabled persons.

Project SEARCH is a unique business led transition program for students with disabilities. It provides students who want to work a chance to explore careers and develop transferable job skills. The ultimate goal: independent adults working in a competitive, community based job. Designed as an unpaid internship program. Project SEARCH places students into real-world situations where they learn first-hand all aspects of gaining and maintaining employment. We are a partnership with OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, Pioneer Career and Technology Center and Richland NewHope Industries.

Provides residential group homes for adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Offers residents a variety of community based supportive services.

Offers a one-time payment assistance of up to $500 to help with utility bills (gas, electric, sewer, water.) May be able to help with rent. Additional funds over $500 may be available depending on the special circumstances of the client.

Evaluates education cases related to disability access and special education (including evaluations, behavior plans and modifications or failure to follow Individual Education Plans {IEP's}); school enrollment issues (including homelessness and school fees/records/other barriers); language access (bilingual services for child and parent/guardian) school discipline, including expulsion hearings and appeals and manifestation determination reviews (MDR's); post-secondary education for individuals with a disability that cannot access education; lawsuit filed by the school against the applicant to collect education expenses.

- Develops a plan for the care of older adults, people with disabilities and people with chronic health issues so the clients can return to or remain in their homes. - Also serves juveniles and individuals with developmental disabilities, substance use disorders and mental health issues. - Services include assessing the client's needs, coordinating the delivery of needed services, completion of paperwork required by authorized providers, ensuring services are obtained in accordance with the case plan and monitoring progress to ensure that services are having a beneficial impact on the client.

Provides two kits designed to introduce safety around moving vehicles in parking lots and to intervene in wandering behavior typical of autistic children. Kit usually includes door and window alarms, an ID bracelet, visual stop signs and a guide on what to do about wandering behavior. Parking lot safety kit includes parent/caregiver safety guide and vehicle magnet to remind children how to be safe in parking lots.

Offers support groups for parents of children with autism who come together for educational and social purposes as well as for mutual support.
