The Center offers hope and healing as it treats child abuse and domestic violence victims, providing long-term therapeutic support for them and their non-offending family members. Information line for tenants regarding their rights and responsibilities. This is an information line only, and those with legal questions may be referred to Legal Aid's intake or a neighborhood legal advice clinic.

LASCO provides advice and representation for tenants who live in private or subsidized housing. Our goal is to preserve and improve the quality of the tenant’s home. Legal services are provided in the following areas: - Evictions - Fair housing - Security deposits - Issues with the condition of rental properties - Section 8 Voucher terminations - Mortgage foreclosures - Tax foreclosures.

Evaluates cases related to: food stamp overpayment; food stamps being denied, terminated, or delayed; or a cash benefit being denied/terminated AND the benefit amount is $0; Ohio Works First (OWF) cash assistance/childcare vouchers/childcare vouchers; Prevention Retention Contingency (PRC) or other state-local income maintenance overpayments, OWF cash assistance/childcare vouchers/PRC or other state/local income maintenance being denied/terminated/or delayed; Child disability case overpayments; child disability case where applicant has received notice proposing termination of benefits and an appeal has been requested; Social Security or Supplemental Security Insurance overpayments; Denial/termination/application delay of Medicaid or Medicare coverage or services, or problems with Medicaid or Medicare for currently or previously incarcerated individuals; Medical and nursing home collection; Emergency cases where there is a problem communicating with county Job & Family Services (CJFS) regarding benefits or application; Public benefits case involving applicant with a mental impairment, language or literacy barrier, or other issue; Veteran benefits overpayments, veteran benefits being denied/terminated, or change to discharge status.

Advice and representation may also be available to those who wish to enforce special rules of subsidized housing, or those seeking assistance with land contract problems and housing discrimination matters. Offering a driver’s license reinstatement fee debt reduction and waiver program for offenders whose driver’s licenses have been suspended for specific violations.

In Centerville only, dispatches officers to the scene of a crime in progress or a police emergency incident (call 911). Dispatches officers to the scene of incidents where citizens need non emergency assistance (call 937-433-7661). Also investigates crimes and reports of missing persons, fingerprints arrestees, and investigates incidents of alleged police misconduct.

Investigates and attempts to resolve all types of complaints about care provided to residents in licensed nursing homes, residential care facilities, adult care homes, long-term acute care hospitals, and consumers of home care services. The Ombudsman Program provides information on long-term care laws, regulations, and rights.

Evaluates cases involving: - Appeals from unfavorable decisions at the Determination stage, Redetermination stage, or hearing level (must be within one (1) week of Unemployment Compensation Review Commission (UCRC) transfer notice, and if hearing date set, at least 10 days prior to hearing); - Recent or past overpayments.

Provides opportunities for eligible residents to speak with a volunteer attorney and ask questions about various legal issues, including custody, domestic violence, visitation, filling out do-it-yourself legal forms, divorce, domestic relations, courtroom procedures and more.

Provides a group that offers support to families/caregivers of children who are aged 18 and under with mental illness. Also offers a group where families can discuss issues they have with school systems (IEPS and aspects of law that affect them) and children diagnosed with a mental illness.
