The Mercer County Child Support Enforcement Agency provides child support establishment, collection of support and modification of support.

Enforcement starts at the beginning of an order through mandatory income withholdings, if a source is available. Income includes wages from employers, unemployment benefits, workers’ compensation, social security benefits, disability benefits, bank accounts, and pensions. The CSEA enforces child support orders to ensure payments are made. For those in default on their child support payments, actions may include credit bureau reporting, occupational and professional license revocation, Ohio driver's license revocation, garnishment state and federal tax refunds or bonuses, and the freezing and seizing of an obligor's assets held by a financial institution. The CSEA initiates prosecutions for nonpayment of support, both civil and criminal, in Franklin County and in other jurisdictions.

Establishes and enforces court orders requiring support for unmarried adults (can be a child support order or alimony). Assists all recipients (unmarried juveniles or adults, or divorced persons) who may need modification of a support order. Takes whatever court or administrative actions are legally available and necessary to achieve compliance with court orders for child or spousal support. May include filing motions, attachment of wages, seizing assets, professional license revocation, prosecution under felony criminal non-support laws, and other actions as required. Ohio law allows that either parent may request a review and modification of the support order every 36 months or earlier if either parent has been unemployed at no fault of their own for 30 consecutive days, experienced at least a 30% change in income (beyond their control) for a period of six months, or becomes permanently disabled.

Monitors payments, distributes monies, and enforces all orders of support and/or alimony issued by the court; handles interstate and intra-state enforcement, location of absent parents, and income tax intercepts; provides paternity establishment.

Advice and/or assistance with "pro se" (D-I-Y) court filings is also available on a variety of other family issues including visitation, contempt of previous court orders, and adoption defense.

Locates, establishes and enforces child support orders. Provides information and support relating to paternity establishment with on-site blood testing, IRS intercepts, collection and distribution of support. Review and child support adjustments/modifications may be available.

Provides assistance to parents with minor children who are seeking financial support from a noncustodial parent. Administers child support and enforcement services, including location of non-custodial parents, establishment of paternity, establishment of financial and medical support, enforcement and collection of support payments, and review and modification of support orders.

Provides legal assistance for LGBTQ+ individuals. Cases may include: *Gender marker changes *Name changes *Family law (custody, divorce, child support) **They are unable to accept cases involving adoptions**

Has jurisdiction of adults charged with nonsupport contributing to delinquency, neglect, or dependency of children; abuse of children; or failure to provide proper parental care.

Arranges transportation for Medicaid clients to and from Medicaid-covered services.

Provides assistance to ensure that child support is paid and received. Assists with locating absent parents, establishing paternity, and establishing, adjusting, and enforcing child support orders. After a completed application for services is received, a child support caseworker will be assigned and a genetic testing and/or support hearing will be scheduled.

Assists with establishing and enforcing court-ordered child support. The Child Support Enforcement Agency is unable to provide help or advise regarding issues related to visitation, custody, divorce or adoption.

Provides two workshops: Child support Navigation and Parenthood Development. CHILD SUPPORT NAVIGATION: workshops inform families on how to navigate the child support system. Provides information and practical application on self-managing the fundamentals of their support orders from modification to termination. PARENTHOOD DEVELOPMENT: provides fathers, mothers and other parenting figures (aunts, uncles, grandparents, adult mentors) with information and support in their quest to enhance their parenting abilities. The group sessions include the sharing of researched materials on the subjects of: ages and stages of childhood development, family communications, male/female relations and punishment versus discipline.

The Child Support Enforcement Agency offers many services which are available to the Non-Custodial Parent and the Custodial Parent. This support includes both financial and emotional support.
